Project SATH-Education: Empowering Futures - Exploring Impact and Approach

Conceptualized by NITI Aayog in 2017, Project SATH-Education aims to revolutionize education delivery, putting students on a trajectory of sustained and successful learning.

Project SATH-Education, initiated by NITI Aayog in 2017, was envisioned as a catalyst for sustainable transformation in education.
Through competitive evaluation and the challenge method, states like Jharkhand, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh were selected for their commitment to comprehensive reform efforts.

The project’s partners, including the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership (PFEL), were instrumental in providing technical expertise and supporting implementation.

At the helm of Project SATH-Education’s governance structure is the National Steering Group (NSG), led by the CEO of NITI Aayog, facilitating strategic planning and cross-learning among states.
The Central Project Management Unit (CPMU) and State Project Management Units (SPMU) ensure effective coordination and execution at both national and state levels, fostering healthy competition and collaboration.

Phase 1 (September 2017 – March 2020) focused on roadmap creation and interventions launch, with a diagnostic phase and emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) gaps.
Phase 2 (October 2020 onward) saw the formal launch and conceptualization of roadmaps aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing digital learning and holistic educational reforms.

Project SATH-Education adopts a comprehensive approach guided by five key principles: comprehensive roadmap design, iterative implementation, data-driven decision-making, strategic partnerships, and state ownership and capacity building.
Structural, academic, and governance reforms are prioritized, with initiatives tailored to address fundamental learning gaps and enhance educational outcomes.
Structural Reforms:
- Initiatives focus on restructuring educational frameworks to optimize resource allocation and improve infrastructure, including classroom facilities and teacher training programs.
Academic Reforms:
